Yellow ribbons will be adorning our light poles in Tunkhannock and Save the Canary Air Monitoring buttons are available to support much needed air monitoring. "What ARE we breathing people?" Please join us in this positive action campaign for public health and safety! We currently have been blessed to find free resources for air monitoring, the first runs from Oct-Dec, the second is for particulate matter and also VOCs from Dec-Feb with another source for VOCs, date to be determined, but after that we still need to test during other seasons and weather conditions. |

Update
Dr. Timothy McCauley has been hired by the Wyoming County Commissioners to do a 3rd party independent air quality study. PA DEP will do a study on silica particulates only, in answer to requests from Tunkhannock Boro, for 90 days prior to the facility going in and for a period of time afterwards. This will not include all particulates or diesel emissions (minimum, not a full study). DEP will be having Dr. John Richards from NC do the particulate study for silica only. In addition Texas A&M's atmospheric scientist, Dr. Sarah Brooks, former Mehoopany resident, has offered and will be doing monitoring for particulates and VOC's beginning the end of Dec. Additionally, there is study currently being done for particulates, nitrogen oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone (O3), and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX). |
